399 Portrait of a man 2

SONY DSC

This is the second version of the portrait that I’m doing for my first commission.
It’s been done-ish (or at least in the state where I’ll leave it now) for some time – so It’s not really my 399th – more like the 380th or something- I just didn’t get around to posting it. It’s still not quite the quality that I’d like it to be, so I’m in the midst of doing a third one (which is turning out much better) and then preparing for a fourth one. I’ll send the two best portraits to the person in question before long.

So now that we have all that cleared up, I have a blank piece of A3 and a mirror luring menacing before my least favorite chair. I hope I’ll do better than my 201th drawing

Oh, and by the way – I updated my links section – not with any new links (what, are you supposed to put links in there??) but just trying to organize it a bit. If there’s anything that I should be linking to, please tell me – I’d also be really happy to get a few links back to this site, and sort of get a “root system” going.

I think that’s all for now. I’ll see what I can do with that blank paper.

  1. This portrait shows amazing progress! Drawing portraits is hard enough but doing one with colour must be one of the hardest things to tackle in art. You’ve got some great skintones and values in this!

  2. This one is also good – less “defined” facial features from #1……and perhaps an overall “softer” look…………but I like #1 better even though this one is amazing…………..
