After this photo – taken from the film “Amores Perros” – a good film!
I don’t draw a lot by pencil these days, and it’s been a very long time since I’ve done a pencil portrait. The last one was this one a month ago, and I think that my pencil drawing is getting better even though I almost only do watercolor.
As usual I’d like to hear any comments, suggestion, critique!
Here’s a link to my other portraits of actors.. Well at least those I remembered to tag !
I think painting sketches with watercolour has loosened up your stroke with the pencil. This is a really great drawing. Look how far you have progressed already!
Thanks! I’m quite happy about it myself!
I agree with Laura. The pencil has been influenced by the brush. Wonderful lines.
Thanks a lot. Now I’m only waiting for the pencil to influence the brush back 😉
You’re doing so well. This drawing is so expressive. You do well with pencil
Thank you, your comments are alway very appreciated. I think i can detect a preference for my drawings over my watercolours? I don’t think I would have gotten this far if it weren’t for people encouraging me onhere, so thanks.
Yes, my opinion is your drawings out do your watercolors. They are more expensive and truer to life. Or closer to emotion somehow and more intriguing. Great work. Sure, you don’t want to be an artist instead of an architect? 😉
We’ll see how it goes, if i suck at architecture, maybe i can fall back on art 😉 It’s always good to have a sensible plan B !
Great image. I’m still crazy about what you do with pencil.
Thanks! I suppose i should do pencil drawings a little more often then !
Pencil sketches have a different capacity for carrying messages, don’t they? Not better. Not worse. Just different.
I suppose that whatever medium you use, it is always that – a “mediator” between your hand (or the brain) and the paper.. If you gave Rembrandt a brick wall in a back alley and some grafitti spraycans, he’d still produce Rembrands, only through another filter… Eeeuh, not that I’m comparing myself to Rembrandt or anything 😉 I like the idea of producing art as a mathematic formular with multiple parameters.. You can change the paper, the pencil, or even the “hand” (not literally though) and each part would make for another expression of the same idea..
Well said.
I love your pencil drawing.
Thanks!
