This guy just looks so friendly.

I’m not 100% satisfied with the likeness, but when I think about how long I’ve been using watercolour, it’s actually pretty good. I really enjoy this medium, and i think that it’s a great adventure to paint with watercolour. I really start noticing things.. For instance, there seem to be a lot of blue tones present in ape’s black-ish skincolour.. It’s quite astounding when you see something that’s a little hard to believe, but you try to reproduce it like that anyway, and it turns out to work really well.

I even think that my watercolours are better than my pencil-drawings.. Maybe I’m just excited !

  1. I would respectfully agree that you seem to do better with a fluid medium like water colors. However your pencil drawing are inspiring and the fact that you are so prolific speaks to your artistic integrity!

  2. Your watercolours ARE amazing ๐Ÿ™‚ They are fresh and very expressive. If I may give you a piece of advice: Stay away from theory, find your own way. You’re definitely on the right track!

  3. I am inclined to agree with your assessment. I think you seem much looser and freer when working with the watercolour than with the pencil and charcoal. It will be interesting to see if working in this medium relaxes your style when you return to pencil. I think this is a charming paint sketch. My Das is obsessed with orangutans so this would very much appeal to him.
