Watercolor painting of a landscape in Bhutan from google streetview
This month in the virtual paintout is in Bhutan. I picked this view from streetview
I actually wrote a couple of lines about how dissatisfied I were with this painting, but noone want’s to hear me whine about it, I suppose. While some things frustrate me, other parts is not half bad. I’m going to be doing less watercolor for a while, though. I think I’ll be studying those “rules and techniques” that seem to be so important in watercolor before proceeding. Don’t worry, I don’t intend on following any rules, I just feel i need to know them before I start breaking them.
Instead I’ll focus on those things that have been working well recently, like the drawings I’ve done in ink recently,

Where does one find these rules and techniques you speak of? I would like to hear more about those as well, so I, too, can disobey them.

Haha ;).. well to be honest, I have only heard the tales of them, never witnessed them with my own eyes, but I am sure they exist, because there’s a lot of people talking about them! I assume that there are books or articles to be read on the subject, but I am not quite certain where they might be 😉
I’m thinking about watching youtube videos or maybe reading tutorials to see how other people do it..

This painting is different from some other scenery paintings. I know nothing about art but this painting to me would be of a Chinese style….the way the hills flow and the trees. I find the picture relaxing and soothing.

Thanks a lot.. I suppose a chinese or asian feel would be fitting to a landscape in Bhutan!
