393 Drawing of a fly with a ballpoint pen and watercolors
I found some photos of some flies on a blog in my wordpress reader, and decided to try and draw them. I think there’s something beautiful about them, but maybe it’s a good time to evoke that saying of beauty being in the eye of the beholder. They’re beautiful, but disgusting also. And above all interesting little things when you see them up close. I think the loose black lines are especially good for such hairy little beasts.
I’m sort of enjoying just surfing around and drawing whatever i stumble upon.
I think when you take up drawing anything is a possible subject, these look great.

Fly behaviour is disgusting but they are beautiful, I agree. I think your drawing of them is exceptional. You’ve managed to create that metallic sheen.

These are very, very cool. I like them a lot. For the record, I am not fond of the species, but the colors and shapes are sorta amazing. I really like ballpoint and color stuff.

I tend to prefer them flat, between two hard surfaces.. But spring is only beginning hand they haven’t yet “hatched” (ew) here in Denmark, so I can still just focus on drawing them.

These are beautiful sketches. I love the colours and agree that the pen works quite well for the flies. I always found flies quite fascinating. Still don’t like them buzzing around me though.
