161 Mexican stone figure

Here’s another drawing from my “Pre-Spanish Mexican art” catalogue.

Drawing this one, I couldn’t help imagining the story of a new dad and his family some 3000 years ago in Mexico.. Upon being awakened during the night, the guy asks his wife with frustration in his voice to “deal with this” – whereafter he retires to his shed, to make a sculpture illustrating his troubles..

In reality, this might not be a sculpture of a crying baby, but just a certain stilistic way of depicting a person.. But who really knows?
