Realism is not the biggest quality of my self portraits, but they’re sure expressive.
As usual critique is welcome
Here‘s my other self portraits

I like the link to all the portraits. The progression is pretty startling, actually, amazing progress in a short time. I also think you are capturing the way you experience life differently from day to day: we think we look the same, but in fact the way we look can change as often as the way we feel.
Very interesting to see just how much your self-portraits have progressed. It’s almost hard to believe this is drawn by the same artist as the first one! I like your shading in this drawing, the use of contrast is good. Maybe pay a bit more attention to your eyes – in a portrait, the viewer’s attention is usually drawn naturally towards the eyes, so getting life and expression into your eyes can do a lot for the impression of life and personality in your drawing overall. Anyway, very well done!
Thanks. Yeah, something strange is definetly going on with the eyes.. And they’re very open. I’ll keep at it!
Just wondering if you have tried a tortillon (or a smudger, smudgie). It’s a tight roll of soft paper that makes blending really easy. Especially in portraiture, it helps get the soft contours of the face. Nice to see your drawings!
I have tried, but couldn’t get it to smudge a lot. I don’t know if it’s the quality of the material or the quality of the artist! I’ll try and do some smudging in the next one, and see again if i can get it working. Thanks for your suggestion.
