The artist Kathe Kollwitz popped in my mind when I saw your sketch. WWI era german jew artist. I think it was the theme (before I read the title, it was obvious it was about sickness) that made me think of her. She did wood cut prints, lithographs and drawings. Some anti war propaganda stuff too.
Very powerful artwork. Thanks for mentioning it. I might do a study of that
